Food From the Heart

This is a sack lunch assistance ministry committed to providing free meals for at-risk children during weekends and extended school holidays.  We partner with Red Duke Elementary, Pomona Elementary, Wilder Elementary and York Elementary to serve area children that are at risk for going hungry when school is not in session.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in...." Matthew 25:35

"Truly I tell you whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine you did for me."

Matthew 25:40 NIV

How  Can I Help?

There are so many ways that you can get involved with this awesome ministry.   The following are some of the ways you can get involved:

  1. Packing lunches, 80 lunches are needed a week and even more on holidays.
  2. Delivering lunches to Red Duke Elementary and Wilder Elementary
  3. Decorating lunch bags.
  4. Praying over the lunches and the families that will receive them.
  5. Donating food (check out the food donation list)
  6. Give financially to the "Food From the Heart" designated fund(see donations button at bottom of page or send check to church with Food from the Heart in the memo).

We have a specific set of requirements for the food that is distributed to our children. All items MUST be in single-serve packages – we cannot re-package into smaller portion sizes, so they must be in ready-to-serve packaging.  Please no food with peanut butter.

Examples include:

  • Single-Serving Pasta/Ravioli (Sold in packages of 4-6, such as Easy Mac or Chef Boyardee Microwavable Ravioli)
  • Single-Serving Breakfast Cereal (individually wrapped servings, typically in a cup or mini-box)
  • Bottled Water
  • Juice Boxes or Pouches
  • Fruit Cups/Apple Sauce Cups
  • Fruit Snacks
  • Single-Serving Dry Snacks (Such as pretzels, cheese crackers, animal crackers)

You can choose to give money to Food From the Heart.  This money will go to purchase food in bulk. You may bring you donation to the Church or click the button below for online giving.   Thank you for giving to this ministry.
